One thing for sure, as a photographer no day is ever the same. What I like most about my job is the variety of work, meeting new people, animals and some amazing Ceramic art that was so very beautifully crafted it was an absolute pleasure to photograph.
I was delighted this week when local Textile Artist Sara Budzik brought in her latest creation - a family of Snails. No, not pets but snails that she had created from ceramics, textured, painted and glazed and so very true to life. The texture and colour of each snail portraying the individual character almost like they were talking to me during the shoot. Sara is a very talented lady who lives, designs and kilns her work here in East Leake. Sara's work doesn't just include snails, she has some beautiful hand crafted jewellery, fine art pots and ceramics. With a growing portfolio of work she is showing and selling her creations up and down the country. This September she has secured a plot at the Handmade Fair at Hampton Palace.
To me, Sara looks like an artist, she is a lovely gentle person who takes a great deal of care and love over all her pieces that feel like they have been crafted from the earth itself. It was with some surprise that I ran into her at a local event as part of a martial arts display team. I'm not sure what colour the belt was but I guess even gentle people need to get their exercise from somewhere!
After photographing her collections - I wanted to share it with you, as I know many of my friends would like her artistic talent in jewellery, ceramics and snails. And, as most of you know I'm also keen to promote any budding business that stems from East Leake.
